Beverley rosenberg and I checked out a few art Openings Last Night

We were off to a good start and it was good to See Janet Belloto again. It has been a long time since i saw her work or participated in a show she curated. Her new digital photography is interesting but I especially loved the digitally printed and three dimensional paper masks. It you prefer beauty in fine art you should see the De Luca Fine Art show. Next, we stopped by the Zoomers and Immortality show at TWIST Gallery. I think Moses Znaimer should stick to the type of exhibits he knows best -design and television shows. This show had no inspirational work in it.

99 Gallery around the corner, however, held the treasure of Erin Vincent’s work. It was like a breath of fresh air entering the space. Even though I don’t read her work as, “instinctual tendencies when facing stress in domestic life”, I do get obvious flight or fight and the sense of containment and feelings of being observed. I would say contrary to what is written about the pieces, that she creates beautiful handcrafted objects d’art that are easy to live with.

I can’t wait to see Joyce Wieland’s piece in the show CROSSING NATURES at Paul Petro Contemporary Art (980 Queen West), to November 12.
